So basically im going to be riding the free trails that are open acroos the street 7 days a week, rather than deal with the ridiculous crowds that will be infiltrating the bike park on the weekends. Just when I thought Northstar was stepping up, they take a huge leap backwards. Even my hometown park at Mammoth can manage to stay open 7 days a week with very low attendance during the week.
Bummer!

Wow, another summer of limited lift access downhilling in Tahoe. Should have seen this one coming, failing housing market, limited bike park hours. Where are some companies priorities? Oh well, maybe it is a good summer to get out of town to ride, check out Whistler, Mammoth or the Rockies. These areas survive on the dollars of riders. A few years ago when Northstar shorted us, great secret trails emerged, maybe another trail building summer will come of this now that it seems the future of Tahoe downhilling is in the hands of the riders. My only real problem with next years arrangement at Northstar is the riding time is significantly less while pass prices do not seem to reflect this reduction. Maybe they should follow the lead of some other resorts and reduce the pass price to increase visitors and revenue rather than charging established riders the same price for less time to ride.

Every year, we evaluate our business and make changes based on customer demand. Because we see the majority of the demand for the bike park Thursday through Sunday during the heart of the summer months, we made a prudent business decision to reduce our operations mid-week and focus our efforts on our Thursday through Sunday operations. The same reasoning was used when we had to decide which lifts to run and when to run them. The good thing about running Zephyr, is that you are still able to access the bottom 2/3 of the Vista trails. Thanks for the question. I hope this helps.

I have a question. I am wondering why that on Fridays till the 28th and Thursdays when only 2 lifts are working, Vista isnt the upper mountain lift. It seems to me that Vista has more trails which = less congestion compared to the Zephyr side that only has 3 runs? On Fridays this will be very crowded on 3 trails. Is it the $$ to run the Vista lift, lack of medical team, etc.? Just a thought, thats all. No rant.
